Regional Clinical Director Public Health Medicine, Te Manawa Taki, Te Whatu Ora | Health New Zealand The Regional Clinical Director Public Health Medicine is a senior clinical leadership role in the Regional Public Health Service, a member of the Regional Leadership Group and initially, the Chair of the Regional Clinical and Professional Leadership Team.
About Te Whatu Ora | Health New Zealand Established on 1 July 2022, Te Whatu Ora leads the day-to-day running of the health system across New Zealand, with functions delivered at local, district, regional and national levels.
It weaves the functions of the 20 former District Health Boards (DHBs) into its regional divisions and district offices, ensuring continuity of services in the health system.
Te Whatu Ora manages all health services, including hospital and specialist services, and primary and community care.
Hospital and specialist services are planned nationally so they can be delivered more consistently across the country.
It also manages national contracts.
About Te Manawa Taki Te Manawa Taki is one of the four Te Whatu Ora regions, rich in diversity and spanning across the Waikato, Lakes, Bay of Plenty, Tairawhiti and Taranaki, and services the major population centres of Tauranga, Rotorua, Gisborne, New Plymouth and Hamilton.
Te Manawa Taki covers an area of 56,728 km2, or 21% of New Zealand's landmass.
985,285 people (2020/21 population projections), including 265,360 Maori (27%) and 43 local iwi groups use the services of Te Manawa Taki.
Te Manawa Taki translates to 'the beating heart'.
Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
Though there can be other conceptual interpretations of the name, one context for Te Whatu Ora is found in the weaving of culture – bringing two or more strands together to weave a basket; a basket of life.
