About this role Mo tenei turanga Fixed term, six-month part time OR full time role from 12 June to 7 December 2024. This parental leave cover can be based anywhere within the Te Tai Runga Takiwa (Wellington, Nelson / Marlborough / West Coast, Canterbury / Chatham Islands, Otago / Southland). As a Regional Assistive Technology Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in our Learning Support team by : Supporting and building the capability of regional Learning Support field staff, kura / schools, whanau / families and other practitioners working with assistive technology. Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with a range of professional partners, community and sector groups to support the consideration of assistive technologies across educational settings. Providing leadership and contributing to regional projects that increase access to and engagement in the curriculum for akonga through effective use of assistive technology, particularly for Maori and Pasifika akonga with additional learning needs. Helping akonga learn and succeed. Salary range : $99,496.00 - $120,690.00 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver (prorated). Significant experience working with akonga with learning needs in a classroom or other relevant setting. Assistive Technology Coordinator experience within the Ministry of Education. Experience supporting other educational professional to meet the needs of the akonga with additional learning needs with assistive technology. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with children, young people and their families and teachers across a diverse range of settings. The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tirirti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga. The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct. Learning Support is a critical part of the Te Mahau Te Tai Runga (South) in the Ministry. We ensure that children and young people with additional learning needs are supported to achieve their full potential through education. Our Learning Support specialists work closely with families, whanau, caregivers, and schools in English and Maori medium settings and other agencies to help maximise learning outcomes and promote inclusion.
