About the role As our Recreation Sports and Play Manager, you will lead a talented team at the heart of our efforts to enhance community wellbeing through sports, recreation, and play.
This role involves collaborating internally across various departments and externally with a diverse range of stakeholders.
You will be responsible for building connections, identifying shared outcomes, and creating opportunities for collaboration that enrich community sports and recreation in Te Awa Kairangi ki tai Lower Hutt.
Key responsibilities: Strategy and delivery: developing evidence-based insights on community needs and developing and delivering measurable strategic plans to address gaps and opportunities for recreation, sports, and play.Leadership: providing leadership across delivery, inspiring your team and others to engage in initiatives that promote active living and wellbeing.Relationship management: building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including community organisations and representatives, to promote participation in recreation, sport, and play.Representation and networking: acting as a key representative for the organisation with sports forums and networks, and advocating for community needs and opportunities.About you You will be someone who has a passion for community wellbeing, recreation, and sport, as well as:
experience in community development or a related field,excellent communication skills with the ability to work across multi-functional teams,a proven people leader with the ability to inspire excellence and high performance,ideally, knowledge of sports and its key stakeholders in Te Awa Kairangi ki tai Lower Hutt, but this is not essential.We're committed to providing a working environment that embraces, values, and reflects the diversity of the community we serve.
