Recreation Officer - New Plymouth

Details of the offer

Part Time
Application Closes: 01 Nov 2024
Location: Taranaki - New Plymouth
Position: Recreation Worker
Enrich the day-to-day lives of our residents.
Two positions available at Chalmers Home.
About Us
Enliven is a not-for-profit service providing aged residential care to older people in the lower half of the North Island. Our Enliven residential services create age-friendly communities where people are happy and thrive, regardless of their age or ability.
About the Role
We are recruiting for two Recreation Officer positions. One position is 45.5 hours per fortnight and the other is 30 hours per fortnight. These positions include one or two shifts every second weekend.
As a Recreation Officer, you will plan and facilitate individual recreation plans for residents, as well as the recreation programme for Chalmers Home. This involves running daily activities with staff and volunteers, planning the social calendar for the home, and supporting our residents to pursue their interests.
About You
Passionate about the wellbeing of older people, you are enthusiastic but patient; well-organised with great interpersonal skills and a sense of humour. You share our values of empathy, compassion, and respect.
We are looking for:

A genuine interest in supporting the recreational activities in our Home.
A qualification in Diversional Therapy is preferred, or alternatively a minimum Level 2 NZ Certificate in Health & Wellbeing coupled with care assistant experience.
Experience in a customer-facing role, ability to listen to people and work with them to support their needs.
Administration experience with some computer literacy.
Full, clean New Zealand driver licence.
Some experience working with elders would be advantageous.

What's in it for Me?
Enliven offers a compassionate environment where upskilling and training are highly valued. You will also enjoy:

Hourly rate from $24.08 to $30.00 depending on experience and qualifications.
Free flu vaccinations as part of the Enliven wellbeing programme.
Progressive pay steps that recognise your qualifications.
Access to discounted healthcare cover and free employee assistance programme.
Discounts with major NZ retailers across the country.

As a values-based organisation that cares about our staff as much as we do about our residents, we support everyone who becomes a part of the Enliven family.
