About The Role

New Zealand's Aluminium Smelter (NZAS), known as Tiwai by locals, is on the lookout for curious-minded individuals who want to take on a rewarding career with us! 2024 is set to be an exciting year for our teams, with activities across a range of site-based initiatives for both people and processes.
We are looking for a Reconstruction Operator to join the Reconstruction Team at New Zealand's Aluminium Smelter. Every hour of every shift, your safety and wellbeing is our number one priority. We do the work only if it is safe, and we invest to make sure every member of the team has the quality tools they need to do their job.
Joining our Tiwai whanau as a Reconstruction Operator, you'll report to our Crew Leader and Superintendent of the Reconstruction Department. This position will operate on our Roster 7 shift, working 4x12 hour days followed by 4 days off.
You'll follow a structured process to optimise and minimise overall business costs. With a demonstrated commitment to improving safety, cost and productivity, responsibilities include:

What You'll Bring
You'll have excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience in team-based work. Your curious mind will have you self-motivated, with the desire to learn and demonstrate an unwavering commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
To be successfully considered, you'll have:
A current full NZ Class 1 driver's licence
An interest and eagerness in gaining knowledge and learning new skills
A high degree of problem-solving skills
NZ OSH forklift Licence
NZ Licence endorsement for Wheels and Tracks
NZ Licence Class 5 is highly desirable
Working knowledge with carpentry, bricklaying, welding or refractory installation would be advantageous; however, it is not essential
Demonstrated commitment to safety and continuous improvement
