The Bay of Many Coves, an internationally recognised 5-star lodge in the Marlborough Sounds, is seeking a hospitality couple for live-in roles. Accessible only by boat or air, this remote lodge offers a unique living and working environment. Due to limited staff accommodation on site, we hire couples as all our staff live on site. This position is available for couples/friends with complementary skills – and the roles available are for a combination of Reception Duty Manager & Chef/F&B/Housekeeping roles.
Reception Duty Manager Role Tasks and Responsibilities:
You will organise and control the daily operations of the resort, coordinating all aspects including guest enquiries, staff, guest accommodation, food and beverages, and managing bookings.
You will assist in the daily operations of the resort, managing the staff on duty, responding to and coordinating guest requests, and managing the logistics of the day-to-day running of a remote lodge with boat arrivals and departures.
You will have excellent phone and email etiquette as you respond to enquiries, booking requests, and in-house guest requirements in keeping with the 5-star expectations. Prior experience is highly preferable, as well as experience with hotel booking or property management systems.
Current Duty Manager certificate is highly preferred for the sale of alcohol, and candidates must at least be willing to obtain this in order to be considered.
Whilst working on reception as a guest host, this also involves serving our guests, so experience in front of house and service is an important aspect of this role.
Requirements/Preferences:
Duty Manager Certificate
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and property management systems
First aid certificate
Prior hotel reception experience

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 30 per week

Application Question:
This is a live on-site role for you and your partner. Are you willing to relocate and live on-site at this remote lodge, which has no road access? You will be a 45-minute boat ride from the nearest town, Picton.
