The Role Junior Design Engineer (Intern) The duties of the role will include: This project will research the use of Ultra Wide Band (UWB) which is an RF technology which is maturing and becoming more common in consumables (eg mobile phones, location tags etc). This technology allows the location of items to be located via a 'tag' attached to the item. This technology is now finding applications in Public Safety as part of a growing requirement to increase Situational Awareness, particularly reporting the location of Firefighters in buildings in real-time. The successful applicant will become familiar with UWB initially using third party development kits. The student will conduct testing on these evaluation kits to evaluate such parameters as latency, location accuracy and overall range. Finally the student will develop visualization techniques to show the location of a person in a building.
