Full time, fixed term (12-months) opportunity based in Auckland.

As a Ranger Project Lead based in Auckland, you will lead the day-to-day delivery of the work plan.
With support and direction from the Senior Rangers, you will lead and manage contractors working on deferred maintenance and cyclone recovery work such as wharf maintenance projects.
The position will be focused on: Delivering heritage and visitor projects across the district, such as replacing signs, organising contractors to deliver deferred maintenance work on visitor and heritage assets.
Assisting Senior Rangers to develop and manage smaller opex contracts.
Support the effective management of Health and Safety risks, undertaking site visits and contractor safety monitoring on site.
Applying hands-on building trade experience to solve maintenance challenges.
Ensuring the safety, functionality, and longevity of DOC facilities and infrastructure.
Coordinating with contractors and internal teams to complete maintenance projects efficiently and effectively.
Collaborating with various supervisors and stakeholders to prioritise and execute maintenance work.
This is a 12-month, fixed term, full time role, based in Auckland that predominantly works Monday to Friday.
If you have the following attributes, we are keen to hear from you: Experience leading projects or programs, including planning, implementation, supervision, delivery within budget and timeframes, and reporting.
Proven relationship building and contract management experience.
Sound understanding of infrastructure and asset management.
Experience with procurement processes and systems.
Strong focus and knowledge of Health and Safety in particular to contractor management.
Current First Aid Certificate.
Full New Zealand Driver's Licence.
New Zealand Class 1 or above full driver licence, with the ability to drive a manual.
Tech savvy skills and drive to learn new systems, including the ability to use computer databases and information systems.
Resilience, communication skills, a positive attitude, and ability to use your own initiative.
Ability to lead teams, work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and environmental compliance related to facility maintenance.
Mo te tima | About the team The Auckland Inner Islands team manages operations on Hauturu, Kawau, Motuora, Tiritiri Matangi, Rangitoto, Motutapu, Motuihe and Waiheke plus some smaller uninhabited islands within the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park.
Most of these islands have a pest-free status and are home to some of the country's most endangered flora and fauna.
