He angitutanga | About the role The nursery at Motukarara plays an important role helping to restore Canterbury's native plant biodiversity and this role will help to build on the nursery's recent success. We need someone who is a great team member, has good relationship and communication skills and who can provide native plant and restoration advice. General nursery production skills, including pricking out, potting up, grading, hand weeding, agrichemical use, collecting orders, nursery maintenance and irrigation and plant moving are also key areas of work in this role. We have two fixed-term positions available: * Full time, six-month parental leave cover (with possibility to extend to 12 months); and * 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week), 12-month fixed term. You will show initiative and support continuous improvements in your day to day work. If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you: * A good level of physical fitness, is able to work in remote locations, and likes to get out seed collecting. * A can-do attitude and wants to get things done. * Native plant identification skills, especially for Canterbury plants. * An ability to build and sustain collaborative working relationships and have a customer focused attitude. * Experience in hand weeding, grading, pricking out and spray work. * Good health and safety practices. * Attention to detail and accurate recording of information. * Excellent observational skills especially important for monitoring and reporting pests and diseases. * Ability to use IT systems and a full New Zealand driver licence are a must have. Desirable: * Growsafe Certificate. * Certified Handlers Certificate. * Current First Aid Certificate. * Level 3 certificate in Horticulture (completed or in progress). * Experience driving a trailer. * Site and equipment maintenance experience.
