We have several exciting new projects underway and require a dynamic Landscape Gardener to take the lead in carrying out a full range of landscape maintenance activities in the Marlborough region. You'll have the opportunity to oversee and be involved in soft landscaping at commercial sites, playgrounds and other community areas. This varied role has the potential to enable you to make your mark, mentoring and training a dedicated small team with the possibility of developing additional leadership responsibilities over time.
You'll also have the opportunity to support seasonal conservation projects and grow our conservation portfolio in the region. For this aspect of the role, it is essential that you have had some previous practical experience working within conservation, ideally involving pest plant control.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have: Landscape maintenance/ horticultural industry experience to a high standard
Ability to use a range of motorised tools, such as lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, scrub bars, pole trimmers, knapsack sprayers
Previous conservation experience, with a good knowledge of NZ pest plants
Ability to read and understand construction plans
Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
Ability and desire to train and mentor others
Genuine commitment to role model and demonstrate high work standards
High attention to detail and excellent organisation skills
A strong commitment to the customer - a flexible attitude to getting the job done whatever it may take
Recognition of the importance of sound Health and Safety practices
Full Class 1 Licence and ability to drive a manual
High level of physical fitness and reliability
WTR would be an advantage
