He angitutanga | About the role An excellent opportunity has become available for a Ranger to join our Buller Heritage and Visitor team.
Whether you're an experienced field operator looking for your next adventure or a recent graduate seeking to kick-start your practical career, this role offers diverse mahi.
You'll contribute to projects related to heritage sites as well as infrastructure projects that enhance the visitor experience.
This position will be focussed on: Maintaining both back country and front country tracks Maintaining back country huts, bridges, and other structures Office work to support the role and team Managing assigned project work Assisting the wider operations team when required Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and internal staff.
At times you will be required to stay away overnight for multiple days in the backcountry, often in remote and rugged terrain.
Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and experience You'll be someone who enjoys rolling up your sleeves, learning new skills, and diving into practical work to help achieve the district's goals.
If you have the following attributes, we are keen to hear from you: A full New Zealand driver licence, ideally with the ability to drive a manual.
A strong personal commitment to health and safety.
Practical skillset with some experience in carpentry or construction.
Physically fit to work in varied terrain, ideally with backcountry experience.
Organisational and computer skills, with attention to detail and the ability to quickly pick up new systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable: Experience in maintaining visitor facilities, tracks and structures.
Experience with the use of chainsaws, scrub bars, 4WDS, LUVs and helicopters.
A current First Aid certificate.

The salary range for this position is $60,401 to $66,578 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
