Details of the offer

We are looking for a practical, customer-focused individual to join the Southern Regional Parks ranger team. The role may undertake a broad scope of duties in areas including recreation, education, conservation, asset management, partnerships, and farming. The regional parks are passionately maintained and cared for by Park Rangers, volunteers, and local communities.
As a Ranger, this role presents you with a fantastic opportunity to facilitate recreational opportunities for our customers, protect our natural, historical, and cultural taonga, and contribute to the farming operations of the parks, while supporting the values that make our organisation and parks world-class.
The role focuses on management and maintenance of park assets, achieving conservation outcomes, providing customer service, provision of recreation opportunities, farming duties, and ensuring park facilities meet our visitors' needs. Managing our natural and historical resources will afford you the opportunity to further develop existing strong practical and communication skills.
You will ideally have previous experience in a parks, reserves, and recreation environment, and be able to demonstrate customer service delivery to a high level. A qualification in a recreation, environmental, or parks management field is highly desirable. It is essential that you have a clean full New Zealand drivers' licence and be able to drive a manual vehicle. You will enjoy working with customers, stakeholders, iwi, and volunteers. You will have a 'can do' positive attitude to make things happen, have sound practical experience, be proactive, approachable, and motivated.
This role requires working on a 40-hour-a-week roster system, being available weekends and public holidays, and responding to calls outside normal working hours (when on call) or during rostered on-call periods.
While focusing on our customers and stakeholders, this generalist role offers great job variety in a stunning and unique work environment, with excellent opportunity for personal development and upskilling. Working as part of a competent, passionate team you will deliver a world-class Ranger service by facilitating a safe, rewarding experience in our beautiful Regional Parks.
This is your opportunity to secure a sought-after role in an amazing work environment. If this sounds like your next role, apply now!
This role is deemed safety sensitive and in line with Auckland Council policy, you will be required to complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing. As such, applicants will be required to undergo police vetting prior to commencing employment. Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory police check.
