As a Ranger Biodiversity, Community, Heritage and Visitors, you'll be at the heart of our conservation efforts in the wider Tauranga District.
The position will be focused on: Coordinating local input into statutory land administration, resource management, permits and concession processes Threatened species protection and management Predator control and habitat restoration, including wetland management and kauri dieback mitigation Heritage and recreational asset maintenance, including track and visitor facility management Community engagement and stakeholder relationship building Cross-functional support for various operational tasks If you have some of the following attributes, we are keen to hear from you: Excellent relationship-building, organizational, and communication skills (written and verbal) Strong time management and prioritization abilities Passion for conservation and community engagement Full New Zealand Driver's License Physically fit and backcountry experience Tech-savvy with ability to learn new systems quickly 'Can-do' attitude with problem-solving approach Adaptability to work across various workstreams and changing priorities Strong health and safety focus, including leading others Practical skills for maintenance, repairs, and conservation work Experience working with iwi, community partners, landowners, and volunteers Understanding of conservation legislation and its impact on New Zealand's sustainability Data collection, analysis, and record-keeping skills Respect for te ao Maori me nga tikanga and passion for working with whanau, hapu and iwi Ability to create and maintain positive relationships across public and private sectors Experience in practical conservation field delivery (e.g., threatened species, pest control) Practical hands-on skill-set Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience Experience with Resource Management Act (RMA) applications and reporting Even if you don't tick all the boxes but believe your skills and experience closely align, then we still encourage you to submit an application.
