Established in 1995, our client provides quality health, education and social services for all who reside within the rohe of Tuwharetoa Ki Kawerau and Eastern Bay of Plenty.He aha te tunga | About the roleWith a focus on realising Maori potential to help improve heath outcomes (and longevity), the key purpose of the role is improving the health and wellbeing of rangatahi Maori and their whanau.Working with rangatahi and their whanau, the Rangatahi Physical Activity and Nutrition Coordinator will manage a rolling caseload, focusing on increasing levels of physical activity and encouraging better nutrition, to deliver better long-term health and well-being outcomes.Key responsibilities of the role include:Develop and implement the rangitahi physical activity and nutrition programmeDevelop an overarching project plan, ensuring key funding deliverables are metDevelop strong networks with external stakeholders, hapu, iwi, rangatahi groups, kura kaupapa Maori, health and sporting agenciesWork collaboratively alongside the national training provider to develop and implement programmesDevelop a calendar of physical activities, events, wananga and tournamentsProgramme development, evaluation and budget settingProviding education and health promotion to strengthen well-beingSuccessfully implement strategies to improve long-term health outcomes for rangatahi MaoriWorking collaboratively with whanau and caregivers to empower and support rangatahiCompleting reporting requirementsNga pukenga me whai | The successful candidate requirements:Diploma in Sport and Recreation, Education or Social Work with the relevant Social or Youth Work qualificationsDemonstrated experience in exercise and nutritionProven ability to lead, coach and support a team of young people to achieve quality-based outcomesHave an in-depth understanding of how at risk whanau functionExcellent negotiating and advocacy skillsStrong relationship and network managementA full, clean drivers licenceExcellent communication skillsA minimum of three years' experience, in a similar roleKnowledge of TKKH and the Eastern Bay of Plenty CommunitiesExcellent organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlinesExcellent computer literacy skills, with proficiency in all Microsoft Office functionsPositive, adaptable to change and able to set clear boundariesRole model, must be a non-smoker/vaperA good understanding of tikanga Maori is desirableYou will be professional, trustworthy, confidential, and a team player.
