Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity We have an opportunity for upcoming new graduate radiation therapists to start their RT career and permanently join our dynamic team at the Waikato Regional Cancer Centre. We want to support you as you transition from a new grad to a beginning practitioner and deliver exceptional patient care utilizing the latest technology.
About the Waikato Regional Cancer Centre: The Waikato Regional Cancer Centre is located in the metropolis of Hamilton, New Zealand. This unit serves a population of approximately 780,000, has approximately 120 staff. We are comprised of an Oncology Department (which includes Radiation Therapy and Chemotherapy outpatient treatment areas), an Inpatient Ward, Palliative Care Service and a Haematology Outpatient Department.
The centre has an all Varian environment to deliver advanced treatment techniques, incorporating SABR, SRT, IMRT, IGRT, DIBH, RapidArc and HyperArc SRT. We are the only centre in NZ to offer treatment on a Halcyon linac. Our staff development programme is extensive and all team members are supported to extend themselves both professionally and personally. Waikato Regional Cancer Centre also has a strong involvement in clinical trials and research.
Minimum RequirementsRegistered or eligible for registration with the Medical Radiation Technologists Board of New ZealandHolds or eligible to hold an APC without conditionsDesirable qualifications:Sound knowledge of radiation therapy techniques including advanced imaging along with pre-treatment and treatment workflowSelf-awareness and maturity when dealing with complex situationsExcellent teamwork and communication skillsA commitment towards excellence and quality in radiation therapy technique and patient careConditions and hours of work are as stated in the Radiation Therapist's Collective Agreement. The successful applicant may be requested to work overtime, participate in on-call as required, and must be available to work all rosters including some public holidays. Start times are between 7 and 10 am.
