TheTeam
CanterburyRegional Cancer and Haematology Service (CRCHS) provides radiation services toa regional population of approximately 600,000. CRCHS currently employs 11 radiationoncologists, 11 medical oncologists, six haematologists and four palliativecare physicians. We are a collaborative unit and work closely with a highlyskilled team of radiation therapists, nurses and specialists from other medicaldisciplines.
CRCHShas accreditation for radiation oncology training with the Royal Australian andNew Zealand College of Radiologists. In addition to 10 accredited radiationoncology registrar training posts, we have trainees in medical oncology,haematology and palliative care.
Thedepartment has four linear accelerators, all with six-degree of freedomcouches, a wide-bore CT-simulator, Monaco treatment planning system, FlexitronHDR Brachytherapy and ABC deep inspiratory breath hold units. We led theintroduction of stereotactic lung radiation therapy to New Zealand departments,and expanded the stereotactic programme to include CNS metastases. Recent developmentsinclude spine and oligo-metastases and prostate stereotactic RT. Our HDRbrachytherapy programme treats gynaecological and prostate malignancies.

Weare looking for a ConsultantRadiation Oncologist to join our innovative team, startingas soon as possible
CRCHSmaintains close links with the University of Otago - s Christchurch School ofMedicine and we are involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. We areactive participants in Australasian and international cooperative groupclinical trials and have an experienced clinical research support team.
Christchurchis a great place to live and bring up a family. It is easy to get around withample recreational pursuits on our doorstep. Schooling and universityfacilities are excellent.
Youwill need to hold the FRANZCR, or an equivalent qualification, that wouldenable registration as a specialist radiation oncologist by the Medical Councilof New Zealand. In addition to your clinical, research, academic andadministration duties, you will be participating in the after-hours on-callroster as well as potentially covering clinical services in out-reach clinics.Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative teamare essential. Additional desirable skills include experience or interest inthe treatment of urological cancers and or sarcoma, clinical research andregistrar teaching.
