R&D Technologist

This is an exciting opportunity to pave the way in the dairy products sector through innovation and technology. Oceania Dairy are in search of a Senior R&D Technologist to lead the development of new dairy products for the customers and consumers of Oceania Dairy Ltd. The Senior R&D Technologist will be part of the R&D projects team, commonly in the role of Project Lead or Technical Lead - being responsible for taking concepts through the innovation phase to commercialisation. In the Project Lead role, responsibilities include project management (to time and budget), technical work planning, coordination and implementation, stakeholder management and project reporting. The Senior R&D Technologist will leverage their expertise to identify emerging trends, evaluate new technologies, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
Oceania Dairy is a dairy manufacturing plant located in Glenavy, South Canterbury, with a diverse workforce of 400 staff, who specialise in the creation of Milk Powder formula and UHT milk. This site has strong domestic and international partnerships due to its ownership by the Yili Group. Responsibilities: Develop new product and ingredient concepts.
Develop ingredient and product specifications.
Technical support during commissioning of the recipes & processes.
Liaise with internal and external suppliers regarding product ingredients, packaging and product labelling.
Develop and maintain specifications to meet MPI and import country regulations.
Analysis of nutrition profile throughout the production process to identify trends and areas of opportunity.
Provide technically based oversight of competitor activity, new products and new technologies.
Minimum Requirements: Minimum bachelor's degree (NZQA Level 7) in Food Technology or related field.
3-5 years relevant experience in new product development for infant formulas.
Sound knowledge of dairy/food technology.
Familiar with the manufacture of milk powders and UHT products.
High level of attention to detail in planning, practical work, documentation and reporting.
Thorough understanding of relevant country regulations for infant and other dairy nutrition.

Location: Oceania Dairy, located in Glenavy South Canterbury, operates a 24/7 manufacturing operation with shift work.
Minimum hours of work: 40 hours per week.
Salary range for this position:
Minimum Annual Salary - $76,596.00
Maximum Annual Salary - $99,124.00
