This position reports to R & D Manager Your role and responsibilities In this role, you will be responsible for designing the main control models running in our power electronics products. Our products range from Power Protection (UPS) to Battery Energy storage to Static frequency converters, power ranges from 300kW to 3600kW. In your role, you'll have the opportunity to contribute significantly to successful project results in technology, software, product, and/or solution development, as well as associated Intellectual Property (IP). Each day, you will act as the first point of contact in Research and Development for specific product-related issues and maintenance. You will also showcase your expertise by identifying, proposing, and implementing innovative solutions. The work model for the role is: Onsite #LI-Onsite. This role is contributing to the Power Protection Product Group in Napier, New Zealand. You will be mainly accountable for: Maintaining recognized expertise in model-based design using MATLAB Simulink by integrating the latest developments in technologies, tools, and methodologies into your work. Finding new ways of solving problems by distilling product requirements into engineering requirements and designing, documenting, and implementing controller models to run on 3-phase power electronics. Documenting work results allowing others to maintain and improve them, including testing and debugging controller models on target hardware. Understanding and initiating IP generation in your area of specialization, particularly in power systems, grid connection issues, and grid standards, and participating in the project IP strategy development. Innovating in features and processes to keep us ahead of our competitors. Supporting the software team in implementing user interfaces and commissioning products on-site. You have 5 years of experience. Possess an enhanced knowledge of 3 phase systems, UPS, Energy Storage Systems, Variable Speed Drives. Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. You are at ease communicating in English.
