About the opportunity | Te whiwhinga mahi We have an exciting opportunity for a R&D Lab Operations Manager to join our team at the Fonterra Research and Development Centre on a permanent basis.
This newly created position is crucial in aligning the lab facility and operations model with Fonterra's innovation goals. The role involves translating the Innovation Strategy into a 10-year lab capability plan and identifying opportunities for simplifying and digitizing lab systems and workflows.
As our R&D Lab Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for daily lab operations and risk management to ensure the highest safety and quality standards. You will foster a secure and efficient work environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
Key responsibilities include: Align lab operations with innovation goals through collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Develop and implement a 10-year capability plan for the lab.
Oversee the capital plan to align with strategic needs and maximize ROI.
Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic R&D lab improvements.
Simplify and digitize lab processes to match the R&D Digitisation programme.
Manage daily lab operations, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance.
Create lab management policies and procedures for a secure and efficient R&D environment.
Build team capabilities to ensure high performance and sustainability.

Additionally, a relevant tertiary qualification, strong innovation/R&D lab management experience, leadership and team management skills, and an excellent grasp of risk and operations management processes are required.
To be successful in this role you will also need: A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
Exposure to innovation R&D laboratory management.
Strong understanding of risk and operations management processes.
Proficiency in Office 365 and Power BI applications.
Demonstrated experience leading successful and efficient teams.
Technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, coupled with strong collaboration and stakeholder management abilities.
