An exciting opportunity has arisen for a QS to join our Christchurch based pricing team. Reporting directly to the Senior QS you will complete pricing and contracts administration duties for current and future projects. This will include understanding construction plans/ topographical information and building schedules for quotations. We are looking for a skilled candidate that has a strong attention to detail and can understand civil construction and earthworks methodology with ease. This is a great opportunity for a candidate who is keen to further their QS career in civil construction.
The Role
To be successful in this role you must be/have:
Proven experience in a QS role pricing civil construction works
A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying/ Estimating or a construction related field (preferred, but not essential to be considered if have proven experience)
A good understanding of residential, commercial and civil construction works and is capable of hitting the ground running
Mathematically minded and able to think quickly
A keen learner, ready to absorb knowledge from our Senior QS and management team
A strong attention to detail with the ability to review comprehensive job information and apply to relevant quotations.
Tech savvy, being able to confidently use a range of different pricing and job costing software.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - all quoting schedules are constructed through Excel
Ability to complete duties accurately and efficiently
Ability to work both within a team and unsupervised
Practical and pragmatic with a solution-based approach
Ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment
Highly personable & capable of building strong relationships across the business
The day-to-day tasks and responsibilities will include:
Understanding and following construction plans, job, design and geotech information to assist with building quotations
Data entry – review topographical information and enter values into pricing software
Completing site visits to determine allowances and scope for quotations
Building schedules in Excel for quotations
Liaising with internal and external parties to determine job specifics for quotations/ tenders (such as subcontractors, project managers, clients)
Tracking variation information
Reporting directly to the Senior QS on progress and status of quotes
Assisting the Senior QS in processing monthly progress claims for invoicing
Utilize existing software and systems to track and report on quotes
