Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our team full-time. You will be paid $31-$35 hourly depending on experience. You will work a minimum of 30 hours weekly. The job will be based on Christchurch, Canterbury region.

Tasks & responsibilities

Determine construction methods, materials, and quality standards; draft and interpret specifications, drawings, plans, and procedures
Organize and oversee site labor, material deliveries, and equipment, while establishing programs to coordinate site activities
Monitor design changes, assess cost implications, and manage valuations and negotiations for design variations
Collaborate with project managers and clients to ensure budget and project requirements are met
Oversee financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, and project cost controls
Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets
Conduct feasibility studies and analyze project requirements
Manage tender documents, contracts, and procurement processes
Track project costs and provide regular financial updates
Advise on contractual claims and variations as needed

Qualifications & experience

Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, Construction Management, or a related field or minimum of 3 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably in steelwork or construction
Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and costs
Proficiency in relevant software is preferable
Excellent analytical and communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
