Job Description About the Role We're looking for a detail-oriented and results-driven Quantity Surveyor with expertise in landfill, civil, and earthworks projects to manage the financial aspects of our construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost management, contract administration, and project evaluation. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Preparing accurate cost estimates for new and ongoing projects, including labour, materials, and overheads. Developing and managing project budgets, ensuring all financial targets are met. Reviewing and negotiating contract terms with contractors and subcontractors. Monitoring project expenditures, tracking changes, and providing recommendations for cost savings. Managing the procurement process, including preparing tender documents, evaluating bids, and selecting suppliers. Generating detailed financial reports, including cost forecasts, variance analysis, and project updates. Identifying potential risks related to costs and contracts and developing mitigation strategies. Maintaining accurate and organized records of all financial transactions and project documents. Communicating with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met. Qualifications 3-5 years minimum experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably in Construction, e.g., Civil works, Earthworks, Landfill or Roading. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations. Proficient in cost estimation software and MS Office Suite. Effective interpersonal, and both verbal and written communication skills. Performance driven, accountable and possessing a commitment to supporting projects to successful completion on time, within budget and to specified standards. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and a "can do" attitude. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. NZ Institute of Quantity Surveyor Member would be ideal. Additional Information What's in it for you.
