Due to a recent acquisition and increased workload we have the opportunity to employ an experienced HVAC Mechanical Quantity Surveyor/Estimator who has the ability to price work and manage variations in a self-delivery environment to support one of the leading HVAC Mechanical installation companies in the Auckland region.
The purpose of this role is to: Identify market opportunities, establish and maintain client contact, prepare tender submissions, follow up and secure the award of HVAC Mechanical contracts in all market sectors.
This role will work closely with the Commercial Manager to define both short-term and long-term organisational strategic targets for Auckland Contracting, build key customer relationships and help identify business opportunities.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for: Identifying market opportunities, establishing and maintaining client contact, preparing tender submissions, following up and securing the award of all market sectors.Defining both short-term and long-term organizational strategic targets for Auckland Contracting, building key customer relationships, identifying business opportunities, negotiating and closing business deals and maintaining extensive knowledge of current market conditions.Reviewing all tender documentation and contracts, attending client meetings and/or briefing sessions, preparing estimates and pricing of tenders or variation works for Project Managers ensuring that any commercial or technical risks are identified and discussed prior to final submission of our price.You will be able to carry out accurate take offs of ductwork & pipework systems and be able to produce a correct bill of quantities.Working with the project team assigned to tenders won to ensure all projects are planned, executed and delivered in accordance with the pricing methodology and project timelines including procurement of materials if required.Providing a consistent, high quality, professional and efficient service to all our external and internal clients, ensuring the highest levels of work and service quality, legislative compliance, and adherence to company and client OH&S needs.Championing the continued development and delivery of the Company's guiding principles.While this is essentially an HVAC Mechanical role, applications from candidates with experience in other services trades or main contractors will also be considered. To be successful a candidate will require the following:
Qualifications and Experience: Relevant professional or technical tertiary qualifications.Previous experience in the HVAC Mechanical sector with sound knowledge of pricing principles and engineering (Innovation including value engineering).Capable of analysing HVAC Mechanical specifications, sketches, drawings and subcontractor quotations.Capable of completing accurate take offs of ductwork & pipework systems and be able to produce a correct bill of quantities.Knowledge of building and service regulations and statutory obligations.Experience in client relationship/account management.A self-motivated team player with the ability to work with a minimum of supervision.Excellent time management skills to prioritise and set programs within the tendering process, ensuring the successful completion and timely submission of tender documents.Excellent verbal, written communication and negotiation skills.Analytical skills with a problem-solving attitude.Experience working within OH&S guidelines.Current NZ Drivers License.We are looking for someone who has a genuine belief in providing excellent customer service, is highly motivated with a "can do" attitude.
