Job Responsibilities Train the next generation of Quantity Surveying graduates Exciting opportunities delivering programmes in China through partnership with Ara Support Quantity Surveying courses at SZJ University in China. The Academic Staff Member (ASM) or Senior Academic Staff Member (SASM) kaimahi provides the knowledge and skills to undertake teaching and the associated activities to learners in their allocated areas to a Program of Study (or Studies) which are linked to a qualification or multiple qualifications.
By the application of their knowledge and skills to the role, learners will gain the necessary knowledge and skills to complete their qualification and apply it to their area of work when employed in the industry.
ASM and SASM kaimahi will ensure that all tasks are done to a standard that maintains the academic integrity and quality as expected and defined by the Program of Study and Ara's Policies.
ASM and SASM kaimahi are expected to work to high professional standards and demonstrate the qualities to learners that will be expected by future employers.
ASM and SASM kaimahi are to ensure that they are supportive of learners and that a healthy working and learning environment is operating within the Department and teaching spaces.
The role will involve teaching Chinese Learners alongside a team of Quantity Surveying tutors for a period of time during the year.
ASM and SASM kaimahi who are allocated research time will conduct their research ethically and in accordance with Ara's Policies, ensuring it is done ethically and that the research undertaken is of benefit to Ara, the department, and society.
Minimum Requirements You must have eligibility to enter and exit New Zealand multiple times. A Bachelor or higher qualification in the area of the programme of study or a related discipline.
(Diploma qualification can be considered where it is supported by relevant industry experience) Current industry/discipline knowledge An Ara-recognised teaching qualification (where a permanent full-time or proportional appointment is made without such a qualification, the appointee will be required to obtain an appropriate qualification within three years of appointment) A high level of understanding and experience in the knowledge and practices related to the Programme of Study Knowledge and competency in the use of the relevant tools (hardware and software) that are used in Industry for those allocated courses that are taught in the Programme of Study. Vision, innovation and a commitment to facilitating own and others' learning. Capable of supporting students to achieve their learning outcomes. The ability to develop and implement flexible teaching and learning methods, including the use of learning technologies. The ability to integrate practices that support societal priorities into teaching. Time management skills, including the ability to effectively and efficiently administer, organise and co-ordinate activities and meet deadlines. Engagement with assessment and feedback processes. Works collaboratively and co-operatively, contributes to teams. Recognises diversity positively (cultural, socioeconomic, age, ability) Passionate about the industry and the field of practice as covered in the Program of Study for which the role is linked to and the opportunities to improve practice or give back to the industry and society through education.
