The Office of the Auditor-General | Te Mana Arotake (the Office) aims to improve trust and promote value in the public sector. Our audits of public organisations – from government departments to councils and schools – play a major part in ensuring that New Zealand's public sector remains one of the most trusted in the world. No other organisation, public or private, has the overview of the whole public sector that the Office of the Auditor-General has.
We're looking for someone to join our Audit Quality Group who's interested in improving the quality of public sector audits and other work carried out on behalf of the Auditor-General.
The role will involve:
monitoring the quality of annual audits and related engagements carried out on behalf of the Auditor-General;
reporting on the results of quality assurance reviews;
helping to lead improvements to the quality of annual audits.
To be successful, you'll have:
a tertiary qualification, incorporating a sound grounding in auditing and accounting;
membership of the CA College of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (or equivalent);
at least five years' practical audit experience, including experience as an Audit Manager or at a more senior level;
experience in public sector auditing.
The Quality Assurance Manager role is ideally a permanent position based in our Wellington office. We're open to the successful candidate being based in another office location and also to being a secondment. Some travel may be required. The work schedule is generally five days a week (Monday to Friday), 40+ hours a week.
As an organisation, people matter to us, our independence is critical, we act with integrity, and we're here to make a difference.
We offer our staff:
Learning and development opportunities.
A unique operating environment with Parliament.
Health and well-being benefits.
We have a diverse and inclusive team that helps us to understand the issues facing the public sector and how these affect the lives of New Zealanders. We strongly welcome applicants from all backgrounds. If you have any support or access requirements, we encourage you to tell us when you apply so that we can assist you through the recruitment process.
You must apply online through jobs.govt.nz (you'll find the application form and position description there, too).
