We are looking for a Purchasing Manager to join our Christchurch, Dorset team! As a Purchasing Manager for our Christchurch location, you will direct the activities of the buying team to maximise effectiveness, compliance, and management of the supply chain to meet the demands of the business. Support the buying team regarding the MRP requirements and make informed decisions. This will include the push out and pull in of demand driven by the planning system linked to meeting our Working Capital target. The role requires an individual who has excellent listening and persuasive skills. The role is varied due to the operational demands from internal functions. Therefore, the individual will need to manage both self and team workloads to ensure compromises are reached where necessary and priorities are clear and delivered against. A highly varied role where contract knowledge, negotiation, and influencing skills will be utilised. Support the buying team regarding the MRP requirements and make informed decisions. This will include the push out and pull in of demand driven by the planning system linked to meeting our Working Capital target. Support the buying team on day-to-day operational tasks as required, e.g., proactively expedite orders to ensure there is no impact to operational demand and purchase order placement. Support the Bids and Tenders team for new and repeat business opportunities. Lead and support supplier negotiations as necessary. With the Head of Purchasing, research and develop new sources of supply to support business growth that provide high-quality products at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct. Lead the development of suppliers in line with the needs of the business with specific focus on Growth and Innovation. Perform other such duties commensurate with the nature and level of the post as may be reasonably required. Oversee the establishment and maintenance of supplier development programs to ensure optimal performance, and chair cross-functional Quarterly Business Review meetings with key suppliers. Support the Head of Purchasing with the selection and development of preferred suppliers and collaborative partnerships. Implement plans to mitigate risk in the supply chain. What You Bring: Essential Hold MCIPS or working towards MCIPS Level 5/6. Computer literate and competent with MS Office. Working knowledge of MRP systems. Diligent and well-organised. Good negotiation skills. People management and objective setting. Desirable Degree in a business-related topic (engineering, business, etc.). Minimum 3 years in a Purchasing Management role. Strong leadership and motivational skills. Experience in writing Frame Agreements / Supply Agreements. An engineering background/qualification. Experience of working in the Aerospace industry with specific exposure to purchasing of electronic components, printed circuit board assemblies, machining, fabrication.
