The role
We are seeking a Pump Technician who understands New Zealand's farming systems, to join our large team based in Ashburton. Working within the close-knit team, your key focus will lie in servicing the requirements of both internal staff and external customers.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Monitor work for efficiency and quality and ensure a high standard of workmanship, asking questions where any uncertain tasks are being carried out.
Troubleshoot pump problems and diagnose issues with the pump's motor, seals, bearings, and other components.
Disassemble and reassemble pumps, inspecting and cleaning parts as needed.
Operate Hiab truck and take responsibility for pump removal and installations. Class 4 (up to 5) required.
Fabricate and weld pump parts, such as impellers, housings, and shafts, using various tools and equipment.
Install, maintain, and repair various types of pumps, including centrifugal, positive displacement, and submersible pumps.
Install and repair pump-related equipment, such as valves, pipes, and fittings.
Be polite with clients whilst working onsite. If unsure about any questions from the clients, ask your team leader or call your head of department.
Ensure department vehicles and equipment are maintained and serviced appropriately before daily use.
Ensure all parts, tools, and equipment are ready and loaded onto the work vehicle before yard departure.
Qualifications & Experience
Full and clear driver's license Class 2+ (preferred up to Class 5).
Mechanical knowledge and understanding.
Welding experience - 1-2 years (in field or workshop experience).
Understanding of hydraulics, pump, and fabrication in-field experience.
Ability to work in both a team and autonomously.
Ability to prioritize work tasks.
Able to troubleshoot logical reasoning, suction, discharge, and pump condition.
