If so, we want to hear from you for this newly created role at Puke Ariki Libraries.As part of the Cultural Experience Group for Council including the Library, Museum and Art Gallery, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to leading services in a new direction in collaboration with colleagues. We are looking to deliver exceptional services to the community in a more inclusive and culturally appropriate way, and this role will be a key player contributing to this work for library services.You will be part of a supportive and culturally safe workplace that is motivated to improving services as part of Te Tiriti Partnerships at Council. We want to grow and develop this role alongside you. You would be working with other roles across the Cultural Experiences group such as the Pou Tikanga and with support of the Kaumata Kaunihera.If you have great connections and relationships with people, and are willing to learn more about library services and contribute to making a difference to the community, then please apply now.Key Responsibilities:Assist in customer service, kohanga Maori collections, supporting research, library spaces and programming to be responsive to the needs of the Maori communityUse a discretionary approach to customer enquiries particularly those relating to Matauranga Maori, Maori literacy and when supporting rangahau Maori (Maori research methods)Identify areas for improvement for Bicultural service delivery within the Library networkWork with the Puke Ariki Maori Public Programs Officer and Pouako Ara Maori to develop services to offer kaiako and akonga (students) of kura Kaupapa and whanauAdvise on the development of the kohanga Maori Collections across the library networkContribute to the planning and delivery programmes and events across the library networkMinimum Requirements:A relevant qualification in Library and Information Management, Te Reo and Matauranga Maori is preferred or willingness to study in this areaExperience working in libraries (preferably Public Libraries)Proficient in Te Reo Maori me ona and tikangaStrong interpersonal, demonstrated people management and supervisory skillsFull driver's licence preferredHe aha ai a Taranaki? - Why Taranaki?With the stunning Mt Taranaki as a backdrop and the warm iron sands along our coast, it is no wonder Taranaki is one of the best regions in New Zealand and the world.
