Te whiwhinga mahi| The Opportunity The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored. We have an opportunity available to join the Northern Region, Planning, Policy and Performance team as a Senior Policy and Equity Advisor. This permanent, full-time role will see the individual provide leadership and support to the policy work taking place across the region, ensuring that equity is achieved for the population and to give effect to Pae Ora. This will include analysis of significant policy developments/changes impacting public health, preparation of policy papers, engagement across the health system and sectors and horizon scanning to identify emerging issues and opportunities of significance to the National Public Health Service (NPHS) across the Northern Region. The role can be located at Greenlane or Whangarei. You are someone with extensive experience in health policy analysis and development, able to apply critical thinking and use sound judgement to develop options and provide guidance. You are able to work in partnership with various stakeholders, understand the geo- and socio-political environments and be able to apply approaches that are needed to produce effective policy submissions. Has a minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in health or public sector/local government policy A Bachelors qualification or equivalent experience, and with a Masters in Public Health or Public Policy desirable. Understanding and experience working in partnership with iwi/ hapu, Maori, Pacific communities or other vulnerable groups A commitment to being a good Te Tiriti partner in all your actions.
