About the Role
We have opportunities available for Public Health Medicine Registrars to join our experienced, supportive teams in Te Manawa Taki's work programme within the National Public Health Service. These are fixed-term, full-time trainingpositions for up to 12 months, ideally commencing in January 2025.
Working collaboratively, you will be part of a team of colleagues to support the mahi of the National Public Health Service providing clinical, public health, epidemiological, and equity advice to support the work programme of the wider teams.
Specific work to be undertaken will depend on the role, and the learning needs of the successful applicant and can be discussed during the application process. All roles will provide experience in a range of public health medicine competency areas.
These roles are open to registrars in the Advanced Training stage of the New Zealand College of Public Health Medicine training programme.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
About you
You will be a current Advanced Training Public Health Medicine Registrar in the New Zealand College of Public Health Training Programme.
You will be looking to build on your existing experience and further develop skills and public health medicine competencies to progress strong relationships with partners across health and other sectors, understand communities' needs, and contribute to developing innovative programmes.
Skills and Experience
A medical degree (MBChB or recognised equivalent), as well as a Master in Public Health (MPH) with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
The ability to work collaboratively and respectfully within a team and with a range of diverse stakeholders.
The ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with people at all levels within the public and private sectors, related industry and community interest groups and the wider national and international communities.
The ability to maximise the quality and contributions of individuals and teams to achieve the organisation's vision, purpose and goals.
You will bring: Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
