We provide a range of services to the general public, including consular and passports and cultural relations services.
We also act on behalf of various Australian Government authorities by representing Australia's interests to local, regional and multilateral government and business organisations in New Zealand.What we can offer:Annual salary NZ$67,200 plus KiwiSaver employer contribution equivalent to 6% of salary.Comprehensive leave entitlements including uncapped sick leave with 15 days per annum and an additional 2 days of Public Holidays (on top of the 12 NZ Public Holidays).Performance rewards.Full time – 37.5 hours per week.Complimentary use of staff gym and squash court.A great team environment.We are on the lookout for someone who has:Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Good people skills and an ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and teams.Initiative, drive and an ability to complete tasks independently.Relevant qualifications in media and/or communication fields and industry experience.Proficiency in communications tools including photography and videography.Strong administrative skills and confidence working with Microsoft Office products.What you'll be doing:The Public Affairs and Communication Officer assists in delivering the Australian High Commission's (AHC) public diplomacy program.
Working with the Public Diplomacy Manager, this position supports the AHC's media and social media activity, assists in the delivery of public events and provides administration support.Manage the AHC's official Facebook, Instagram and X accounts by developing creative content, monitoring activity and co-ordinating social media campaigns, including reporting KPIs and progress.Monitor and maintain the AHC's website by ensuring content is relevant, engaging and up to date.Monitor New Zealand media including preparing a daily round up and managing print and digital subscriptions where required.Assist with media arrangements for ministerial and high-level visits and events.Co-ordinate AHC events with the Public Diplomacy Manager, including liaising with sponsors and service providers, creation and management of guest lists, development of theming and managing event logistics.Support the AHC's cultural diplomacy program, including liaising with stakeholders, organisers and artists.Provide administrative support, including maintenance of the contacts database, financial administration for public diplomacy funds and conduct research tasks as directed.Provide support to the Public Diplomacy Manager and other areas of the AHC.Undertake other tasks as directed.Apply now!If this sounds like you, send us a 1-page cover letter highlighting why you would be the BEST person for the role alongside your resume.
