This is an exciting new role within the Child Health Psychology service.
The Psychologist – Paediatric Pain Management role will provide psychological support to our tamariki and young people and their whanau, who are receiving health care at Waitaha for their persistent pain. The role will contribute to the development of the new paediatric pain service through the provision of specialist psychological input that focuses on the crossover of psychological health and management of persistent pain. They will proactively contribute to the delivery of an excellent pain management service that provides holistic and psychological care for tamariki with persistent pain, through effective consultation, education, and support to the Child Health team. The psychologist will collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary paediatric teams in Child Health; this will include involvement in regular MDTs, inter-professional appointments, and consultation as required.

We are looking for an experienced Psychologist to provide effective psychological support to tamariki and young people and their whanau receiving health care at Waitaha for their persistent pain.
You will have experience supporting, developing, and maintaining an agreed model of service delivery for psychology access for patients and their whanau.
Your professionalism and dedication to providing high-quality patient care will ensure your success in this role, and your communication and time management skills will enable you to function well as a member of the larger multidisciplinary team.
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
Registration with the New Zealand Psychologists Board, with a current Annual Practising Certificate
Member of a professional psychological organisation (NZCCP or NZPsS)
Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Psychologist and working at a Senior level
Education either during university studies or post-graduation in health psychology and pain management theory and principles
Experience and interest in working with tamariki and their whanau experiencing persistent pain.
Completed appropriate supervision training and has supervision experience.
Experience working relationally with whanau, and with complex systems and working with patients with complex needs.
Ability to work on own initiative and organise own workload to operate effectively.
