The closing date is 15th Dec 2024Job summaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen to take an active role in shaping mental health provision within the newly formed Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a Practitioner Psychologist to join the Portsmouth & Southeast Hampshire acute services, blending roles to provide a connected approach in working with patients who are acutely unwell. The role(s) is for an opportunity to work full time or part time across Mental Health Liaison Team/Acute Psychology at The Orchards Psychiatric Unit. Part of the role will be to build links across the mental health care pathway & building links with appropriate outpatient services in getting people in mental health crisis support.We are looking for a motivated & committed person, who will already have experience of working with people with complex mental health problems & developing psychologically informed practice within a multi-disciplinary team. You will have a proven track record of developing clinical interventions at the pace required for a mental health liaison setting. Be committed to leading health care professionals delivering high quality psychological interventions efficiently to people experiencing acute mental health crises also to those whose mental health impacts upon their physical health.Main duties, tasks & skills requiredThis is an excellent opportunity for the right person to help build psychological skills within a well-established team. The post-holder will contribute to shaping the vision and delivery of the MHLT and Acute Psychology Team assessment and intervention by working with other psychologists and in training and supervision of other members of the team. This role will also enable you to build on your service evaluation and research skills as well as supervising CAPs and trainee clinical psychologists on placement.We would consider applications from newly qualified Practitioner Psychologists and support their development into an 8a role.Portsmouth & Southeast Hampshire Psychological Services have well established clinical supervision structures and an excellent track record of CPD, as well as good links with Southampton University, particularly with the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology and the Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.You will be professionally, and line managed by the Lead Psychologist for MHLT or Consultant Clinical Psychologist for Acute Psychology at The Orchards. You will be part of the Portsmouth & Southeast Hampshire Psychological Services, which is comprised of 20 Psychologists and Psychological Therapists with expertise in CBT, DBT, CAT, Art Therapy, IPT, ACT, CFT and EMDR.Job descriptionTo provide a qualified psychology service to clients of the Mental Health Liaison (MHLT) & Acute Care Pathway as agreed with the Lead Psychologist.To provide highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapy for inpatients of Portsmouth Hospital and/or Psychiatric Unit, The Orchards. The acute care pathway includes both inpatient and Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team (CRHTT), we do not do home visits all patients under this pathway attend appointments at The Orchards.To offer advice and consultation on clients psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the teams policies and procedures.To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.To carry out other clinical work, research activity and training as agreed with the Lead Psychologist.To be responsible for some junior Psychology staff which may include Band 7 Clinical Psychologists, attached Doctoral Trainees on placement, Clinical Associate Psychologists (CAPs), Assistant Psychologists or Undergraduate Psychology Students on placement.To be responsible for an on-going programme of personal professional development.To work cohesively with the Multidisciplinary Team in shaping their psychological understanding.All employees have a duty and responsibility for their own health and safety and the health of safety of colleagues, patients and the general public.All employees have a responsibility and a legal obligation to ensure that information processed for both patients and staff is kept accurate, confidential, secure and in line with the Data Protection Act (1998) and Security and Confidentiality Policies.Person specificationQualificationsEssentialPost-graduate doctoral level training in psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist.Post-qualification training in a specific psychological modality relevant to the role.ExperienceEssentialExperience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.For help with your application, contact:Hasina ****** schemeAgenda for ChangeBandBand 8aSalary£53755.00 to £60504.00 YearlyContractPermanentWorking patternFull-TimeReference number449-Team2-1547Job locationsQueen Alexandra Hospital
