About this role Mo tenei turangaAs a Psychologist, you will play a critical role in our region's Learning Support team by:
Identifying patterns or contributing factors that may be influencing learning, wellbeing, and behaviour.Enhancing inclusive practices in early learning services, schools, and other educational settings.Working collaboratively with a team around the child, including educators, parents, caregivers, and whanau, to enhance understanding about the child and their behaviours.Providing professional support and guidance to schools, teachers, and families and building the capacity of those who are best placed to support the learning of children and young people.Providing appropriate in-depth specialist assessment and analysis for evidenced informed interventions.Facilitating access to wider services and support, in response to individual needs.Working as part of a trans-disciplinary team where a child's needs are complex.Providing objective consultative analysis, advice, and information on project requirements.Applying the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Disability Strategy, and other relevant government initiatives and strategies, in all aspects of service provision, and, where appropriate, participate effectively in their implementation.Salary range: $85,416 - $126,000 per annum + 3% kiwi saver.

A Masters-level tertiary qualification, Post-graduate Diploma in Educational Psychology or Clinical Psychology (or equivalent), New Zealand Psychologist Board registration, and a current Practicing Certificate.Current Psychologist Interns are welcome to apply.A genuine commitment to evidence-based interventions, which demonstrate inclusive education practice and contribute to raising student achievement.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including an ability to sustain productive professional relationships.An ability and willingness to work in collaborative partnership with other professionals, agencies, families, and the sector to achieve shared outcomes.Demonstrable knowledge, experience, and skills in supporting children and young people with challenging behaviours.Sensitivity to cultural and ethnic diversity and a commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.A proven ability to use data and insights to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, to influence and guide organisational and system-level decision making.The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.About our group and team Matau ropu akeTe Mahau takiwa collectively provide leadership and integrated services to the education sector. This includes services such as learning support and education advice and regulation functions for schools and early learning services.
As a frontline group, we develop and harness existing relationships with communities at the regional and local level through the Directors of Education, including deep relationships with iwi and hapu.
Our frontline groups are represented at the leadership level of decision making for Te Tahuhu. The frontline hautu deputy secretaries hold at least one National Portfolio to complement their frontline role.
In Te Tai Raro, our hautu holds the National Portfolio for Pacific Education. This portfolio requires many parts of our organisation to work together to enhance collective impact for Pacific learner success, embedding the shifts in the Action Plan for Pacific Education.
