Nga kawenga | About the role Auckland Region Women's Corrections Facility: A new initiative at Auckland Region Women's Corrections Facility (ARWCF) is underway, of which the goal is the development of a site-based delivery model for a psychological service that aligns with and integrates into the initiatives currently underway at the site, including the Te Mana Wahine pathway for women and the women's strategy E rere ana ki te pae hou, ensuring we meet the psychological needs of the women housed there and the aspirations of Hokai Rangi. Within this service there will be the opportunity to complete individual assessment and treatment and to run newly revised rehabilitation programmes that have been designed within a braided river (He Awa Whiria) approach – that is Te Ao Maori and Matauranga Maori sit alongside more Western psychological approaches to rehabilitation. The service is intended to operate from a therapeutic unit, providing psychological advice, support, and intervention, as appropriate. We are looking for passionate and dedicated psychologists to form part of this multi-disciplinary team, which will include a Kaupapa Maori Practitioner and a Reintegration Co-Ordinator. There is a strong focus on bicultural practice and Matauranga Maori. As such, the successful applicants will be passionate and enthusiastic about working in this space. An existing understanding of Te Ao Maori and tikanga would be an advantage.
