Psychiatrists - Community Alcohol And Drug Service

Details of the offer

Psychiatrist or a Vocationally Registered Doctor eligible for FAChAM* (FT or PT)
Community Alcohol and Drug Services (CADS)
Te Whatu Ora Health NZ Waitemata
Are you a Psychiatrist or eligible registered Medical Practitioner* looking for a new challenge or a change? Are you keen to be part of a flexible, dynamic, client-centred specialist team providing high quality care to people seeking addiction services?

Come and work at Community Alcohol and Drug Service (CADS) , New Zealand's largest Alcohol and Drug Service. CADS covers the greater Auckland area and provides a range of addiction services to many thousands of people each year, with over 240 staff from a range of professional backgrounds, including Medical, Psychology, Nursing, Allied Health including Consumer and Peer Support.

CADS operates from six main sites across Auckland (Takapuna, Manukau, Henderson, Kingsland, CBD and Pt Chevalier). We provide a wide range of services, from Intake, Assessment and Counselling both individually and in groups. Medically assisted treatments include opioid replacement treatment, inpatient and outpatient managed withdrawal, medical stabilisation and support of GPs and other health professionals.

We are strength-based, recovery focused and adopt a harm reduction approach, valuing easy access for Aucklanders and their families. Specialist services exist for those with co-existing disorders, pregnant women and mothers (our Pregnancy and Parental Service), young people (our Altered High Youth Service), people who have had contact with the criminal justice system, or require compulsory treatment (SACAT Act 2017), or have need of application of the Misuse of Drugs Act (e.g. restriction notices, authorisations). We operate in close partnership with a wide range of stakeholders, including providers for Maori and Pacific peoples, other Addiction and Mental Health Service providers, NGOs and Primary Care.

We are seeking an Addiction Specialist (Certificate Addiction Psychiatry or FAChAM), or registered Medical Practitioner willing and eligible to train* in Addiction to join our team. We will consider full or part time hours. You will be based largely with our Auckland Opioid Treatment Service (AOTS) at Pitman House in Point Chevalier (or as agreed, at one/some of the other CADS Units). Depending on your training needs, professional background and areas of interest, there will be various opportunities to work at the wide range of CADS Services described above.
