About the role: MYD is seeking an experienced, confident, and highly capable Project Manager to lead and implement Youth Parliament 2025.
Youth Parliament occurs once every Parliamentary term and involves around 120 Youth members of Parliament (MPs), 20 Youth Press Gallery members, and a Youth Clerk from across Aotearoa New Zealand.
It is all about the voice of young people being heard and seeks to provide them with the opportunity to participate in parliamentary processes.
Opportunities for participants may include: Debating a mock Bill and engaging in a general debate in the House.
Asking oral questions of Cabinet Ministers.
Sitting on select committees of inquiry.
Presenting a select committee report in the House.
Taking tours within the parliamentary complex.
Reporting on Youth Parliament proceedings.
Skills and experience: We're looking for you to have comprehensive talents in: Project management; ideally within the public service arena.
Relationships and engagement; your ability to engage, influence and collaborate with key stakeholders and senior leaders is crucial.
Operational Policy analysis; identify, evaluate and address issues.
Working with ambiguity; problem solve, shift gears comfortably, and handle risk and uncertainty.
Ministerial briefings; proven experience at writing and delivering concise complex information.
As you will be providing high quality advice to the Minister for Youth's Office and the Offices of the Clerk and Speaker, a deep understanding of parliamentary workings would be an advantage.
