Details of the offer

Project Manager Reduced & Zero Emission Project (RZEP) at Civil Aviation Authority of NZ, Wellington The Civil Aviation Authority and the Aviation Security Service offer distinctively different career opportunities and embrace diverse talent. All jobs at the Authority contribute to ensuring safe and secure skies to help New Zealand fly. The Civil Aviation Authority is the regulatory arm of our organisation and the Aviation Security Service is the nationwide provider for aviation security. o Do you want to be at the forefront of decarbonising NZ? o Do you thrive on building strong relationships whilst driving navigation of uncertain working environments? o 2 years fixed term contract role in Wellington with a possibility of extension. We're looking for great people to join us in keeping New Zealand's skies safe and secure. About the role The Authority is seeking an exceptional individual to manage our Reduced & Zero Emission Project (RZEP) that's developing pathways to world-leading operation of zero emission air travel. Like many industries, the global aviation system is rapidly transitioning into new technologies that decarbonise air travel. New aircraft are being developed, these are already finding their way to NZ and we have to adapt. Recent public announcements in the media about adoption of zero emission aircraft by NZ airlines effectively now provide timeframes for the Authority to develop new approaches that manage change toward that future. It's an exciting time for the Authority to be at the vanguard of change as the world transitions to a carbon neutral future. To manage that work the Authority is standing up the Reduced & Zero Emissions Project and we're looking for a new Project Manager (RZEPM) to manage the project. Reporting to the Director Emerging Technologies Programme, as the RZEPM you'll be: • Ensuring executive RZEP decision makers have information required to steer the RZEP toward achievement of its benefits. • Managing maintenance and delivery of the RZEP Project Plan, whilst communicating RZEP accomplishments and issues across the RZEP stakeholder group. • Structuring and running engagement activities with Authority regulatory teams and industry innovators across all levels of those organisations. • Picking apart complex regulatory and relational opportunities and structuring initiatives to exploit them with RZEP project teams and through the working interfaces with innovators. • Supporting RZEP stakeholders to navigate the inherent uncertainty present in the pursuit of project goals. • Ultimately, contributing to a safe and cleaner future in NZ, by helping the Authority to develop innovative solutions for NZ's aviation system. This role is a chance to be a part of an exciting and dynamic team who're at the forefront of driving change within NZ's aviation system. Whilst the role is based in Wellington, there will be occasional travel required to conduct engagements with industry from time to time. The role will require a mixture of time in the office and working from home. The salary band for this position goes from $132,950 to $163,292 with a mid-range being $145,087. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role and relativities across the organisation. What we're looking for As the RZEP Manager, you will be able to demonstrate: • Recent project management experience related to large scale, long-term projects that involve a wide variety of stakeholders. • Knowledge of a Regulator's role in NZ and how it relates to industry. • Ability to bring discipline and structure to fast-moving, complex situations that require adaptive approaches and solutions. • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build credibility quickly, whilst finding areas of shared value within 'arm's-length', yet interdependent relationships. • High levels of organisational and time management skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, across a variety of contexts. • Preferred – Knowledge and understanding of the structure and workings of the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and its role in NZ's aviation system. • Preferred – Recent experience developing high performing teams and/or mentoring junior staff. • Preferred – Working knowledge of Prince 2 and Agile project management methodologies. As a flexible friendly employer, we are happy to discuss solutions that may work for you and us. We value and care about enabling our people to work in a way that means they can work at their best.
