MEL 2020 Ltd, trading as Mainstream Engineering, is an established industrial engineering consultancy, with offices in Kawerau, Hamilton, Nelson, and Christchurch - we are celebrating 20 years this year.
Our national reputation for excellent service delivery continues to grow annually. Our experienced team of professional engineers, project managers, designers, and construction supervisors deliver practical, compliant, and cost-effective professional service. Being mobile and responsive, MEL staff work collaboratively with our clients, applying both technical and practical experience to provide quality engineering and project delivery support.
The Role:
This hybrid Project Manager/Mechanical Engineer role will allow an engineering "all-rounder" to thrive. Based at our Christchurch office, you will split your time between the office and various client sites, overseeing engineering activities ranging from feasibility to implementation on-site.
Working alongside other engineers of various disciplines, no two days will be the same as you drive multiple industrial projects from early stages through to completion, all while spending time "on the tools" controlling the design and analysis required for the engineering phases of these projects.
We are seeking:
7+ years' experience in similar NZ role/s.
BE in Mechanical/Project management Qualifications.
Mechanical design and analysis capabilities, including but not limited to:
CAD (Preferably Solidworks or AutoCAD)
Engineering calculations
Project engineering capabilities, including but not limited to:
Cost estimating
Progress reporting
Contractor liaison and management
Quality management and inspection
Preparation of work scopes and generation of specifications
Technical support
As a self-starter, your ability to "get things done" will be valuable to our clients, and along with your engineering experience, you will be able to solve a range of complex problems.
You will have a proven understanding of client engagement, project management, and delivering value as a consultant.
Experience in full project lifecycle delivery. Front end feasibility and cost estimating, through preliminary and detailed design, to construction management and commissioning would be beneficial.
With potential growth and leadership opportunities plus the opportunity to expand your skill set and career, an immediate start is available for the successful candidate.
Please be aware that you must have the legal right to work in New Zealand to be considered for this role. Please apply online. If you are selected to progress into our interview process, we will be in contact with you via e-mail. For more information about MEL, please visit our website,
