We're proud to have done this in one form or another for over 100 years, powering Kiwi businesses, communities, and homes.With $5B of assets and a whole-of-electricity sector view, our work is essential to enabling accelerated electrification to meet climate change and sustainability goals that will impact generations to come.About the teamOur Grid Works Delivery team is accountable for the investigation and delivery of CAPEX and OPEX investigation and build projects for the full suite of assets making up the New Zealand electricity transmission system (the "Grid"). The team works together to ensure economic delivery for the people of Aotearoa, with a focus on timeliness, quality, safety, and system reliability.About the opportunityBased in Palmerston North or Wellington, with travel to site as required, we are seeking a dynamic, proactive, and safety-conscious Delivery Project Manager to join the team.You'll have the opportunity to deliver a mix of discrete, multi-million dollar projects and minor projects concurrently, anywhere in Aotearoa.As a key member of one of our Project teams (Large, Customer, or Volumetric), you'll be primarily responsible for the build and commissioning of Substations, Substation Management Systems (SMS), Special Protection Schemes (SPS), and other scalable projects, as well as working with customers on Greenfield sites.Projects may include:Progressive replacement of outdoor switchyards and circuit breakers with modern indoor facilitiesManaging the roll-out of systems to allow Engineering Remote Access to equipment and facilitiesProgressive replacement of end-of-life single-phase transformers with 3-phase units and associated equipmentIn addition to the delivery of these critical projects, we also offer the opportunity for appropriately motivated and experienced individuals to become involved in upstream optioneering and solution investigation activities.About youAs someone who instinctively takes an enterprise-wide view, you have the curiosity to question and look beyond the obvious to seek alternatives. You understand the rules, acknowledge the limits of your delegated authority, yet comfortably navigate the grey areas.Calm and composed under pressure with a good sense of humour, you use every ounce of your knowledge and experience to get things done while ensuring that you keep the wider team informed. You understand that, on occasion, a broader team benefit may be the priority.And of course, you thrive working from a mobile office in a role that's not your typical 9 to 5.What to expectYou'll play a key role in leading a team to effectively pull through investigation projects to approved business cases, then execute the delivery phase through to commissioning and handover to our Operations group.Safety during delivery activities is imperative, and you'll partner with our service providers to ensure robust systems are in place. You'll also contribute to improving delivered asset quality and maximising system reliability by challenging technology and methodology at the investigation phase.Using your street smarts to understand the drivers of cost in constructing our assets, you'll pursue efficiencies and sustainable cost reductions. You have the confidence to have robust early conversations with stakeholders on constructability and schedule, which will then roll into the delivery phase.With the customer at the heart of everything we do, you will drive customer value with an eye on the overriding value to New Zealand.To be considered, your CV and cover letter will demonstrate:Minimum of 5 years' experience delivering a broad range of infrastructure projects/programmes or equivalentClear verbal and written communication skills, and an inclusive and collaborative styleThe ability to engage and influence key stakeholders, partners, and contractorsSafety culture commitment and knowledge of health and safety legislationGood computer literacy including use of databases, project management, and financial management systemsA recognised tertiary qualification in engineering, project management, or another related disciplineA project management qualification, preferably PMP or equivalent (e.g. PRINCE2)While not essential, the following will be highly regarded:Demonstrated ability to lead geographically dispersed project resourcesGood end-to-end understanding of the need for structured reporting systems, the outcomes, optimisation, and mitigationJoin us at TranspowerAotearoa is powered by the people who work here.
