Project Manager at Ministry of Health, Christchurch Permanent | Full time | Christchurch based (other South Island locations considered) WFH flexibility | WFH allowance | 4.4 weeks annual leave Salary midpoint of $105,270 actual salary dependent on your experience Te Aho o Te Kahu, the Cancer Control Agency, provides national leadership for and oversight of cancer control.
Te Aho o Te Kahu takes a whole-of-system focus on preventing and managing cancer and oversees system-wide prioritisation and coordination of cancer care in New Zealand. It is accountable for ensuring transparency of progress towards the goals and outcomes in the National Cancer Action Plan. Te Aho o Te Kahu is equity-led, knowledge-driven, person/whanau-centred and outcomes focused.
Alongside a national team in Wellington, Te Aho o Te Kahu has four regional hubs which have a critical role ensuring the needs and perspectives of both the wider cancer sector and our communities in each region are incorporated into our work. The Southern Regional Hub, located in Christchurch, is a core function of Te Aho o Te Kahu. The team provides a mechanism to ensure the Agency includes regional perspectives and views in its prioritisation and work programme. It provides the operational arm of the Agency, playing a key role in implementing initiatives at the local level, taking regional needs into account.

As our Project Manager - Equity, you will be involved in leading our regional engagement with Maori and building our Maori capability across a broad range of programme. The successful candidate will ensure a two-way dialogue between the Southern Region and Te Aho o Te Kahu's national program of work. This position contributes to building a system that delivers our vision of fewer cancers, better survival and equity for all.

Key Responsibilities You will have a history of planning, delivery and achievement on projects, ideally in a role that has directly led improvements for Maori or Pacific communities You will be an effective communicator, able to build strategic relationships and influence others whilst working collaboratively with a wide range of partners and stakeholders Offer consistent high-quality project management and communications with stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of the our work programme. Lead our regional engagement with Maori and building our Maori capability across a broad range of programme Take a lead role in projects and priority areas, employing appropriate project management techniques to achieve optimal results through delivery of high-quality outcomes. Ensure all work aligns with our Agency's commitment to equity and upholds Te Tiriti obligations. Tertiary qualification in a relevant health field, or equivalent experience Project management experience with proven delivery Demonstrated understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and whanau, hapu, iwi needs, engagement and context, with an understanding of Maori tikanga and kawa Demonstrated community networks and expertise in working with and for Maori to improve health outcomes Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with and manage cross-functional teams Proven ability to communicate clearly, concisely and in plain language to influence and build trusted relationships with a range of key internal and external stakeholders, at all levels Working at Te Aho o Te Kahu is inspiring, meaningful and rewarding.
