About the team Our Grid Works Delivery team plays a vital role in Transpower's mission to maintain and enhance New Zealand's electricity transmission system.
We manage both CAPEX and OPEX projects, ensuring the grid remains future-ready and aligned with our strategic objectives.
Working with a wide range of stakeholders, we deliver projects worth hundreds of millions of dollars annually, spanning system upgrades and resilience initiatives.
The opportunity Based in Auckland or Hamilton, you'll join a high-performing team of Project Managers delivering infrastructure projects across New Zealand's transmission network.
These projects range from substation upgrades to new grid connections, valued between $250k and over $100m.
As our Project Manager, you'll take the lead in delivering projects aligned with our commitment to safety, quality, and innovation.
From developing robust business cases to managing risks and balancing time and budget, you'll ensure every detail of the project lifecycle is effectively managed.
You'll collaborate with diverse teams, both internal and external, working alongside consultants, service providers, and regulatory partners to achieve shared goals.
As part of our project programme, we abrasive blast and paint towers to extend their usable life.
Transpower contracts dedicated tower painting service providers to carry out this work.
This role will be responsible for delivering one or more of these contracts, ensuring the work is completed on budget, on time, and safely.
Experience or practical understanding of coating systems and corrosion would be beneficial, as the role will involve conducting site visits and quality assurance checks.
There will also be opportunities to work within Transpower's substations to project manage the refurbishment of our structural assets.
Projects may include:
Planning, scheduling, and managing Transpower asset outages to facilitate the completion of tower and substation gantry refurbishmentsCollaborating with the Environmental and Landowner teams to secure safe access to our assets for the commencement of workDelivering a wide range of projects to support the electrification of New ZealandAbout you We're looking for a collaborative, results-driven Project Manager with a proven ability to manage diverse stakeholder relationships and deliver complex projects successfully.
You'll bring:
At least 5 years' experience delivering a broad range of infrastructure projects/programmes or equivalentClear verbal and written communication skills and an inclusive, collaborative styleThe ability to engage and influence key stakeholders, partners, and contractorsA strong commitment to safety culture and knowledge of health and safety legislationGood computer literacy, including proficiency with databases, project management, and financial management systemsA recognised tertiary qualification in engineering, project management, or a related disciplineA project management qualification, preferably PMP or equivalent (e.g., PRINCE2)While not essential, the following will be highly regarded:
