Mo tenei turanga mahi | About this role In this role you will: * Provide high quality project management, on behalf of the Manager, Policy on the Bill project. * Lead the commissioning of work (under guidance from the Manager), ensure work is managed effectively, ensure the project team is producing quality and timely advice. * Ensure there is a collaborative working environment with internal stakeholders and the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC). The position sits within the Policy Unit / Wahanga Kaupapahere, which is responsible for providing emergency management related policy advice to government, the CDEM sector, and the wider emergency management and national security systems. This includes stewardship of the CDEM framework, including a priority project to amend the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002 to ensure it is fit for purpose. Ko wai koe | About you We are looking for a candidate with the following attributes: * Excellent interpersonal skills with a wide range of staff and stakeholders. * Willingness to grow Maori capability and cultural confidence. * Flexibility of approach/thinking, able to adapt in constantly changing circumstances. * Comfortable facilitating a collaborative work environment, with a constant eye on meeting the objectives and goals of the project. * An ability to deliver high quality work under pressure. * The discretion and tact to handle confidential and private information. * High level of judgement with the ability to make effective decisions in complex situations. * Able to work autonomously and ensure work gets completed effectively and on time. * Resilience, Agility and curiosity Huanga Whaiaro | Key requirements * Proven experience managing large scale, complex legislative projects in a public service policy context. * Experience in the Machinery of Government. * Proven stakeholder engagement capabilities, ideally with an ability to engage authentically with Maori * Experience in supporting senior managers and providing support to workstream leads. * Proven experience in leading in a matrix environment and fostering a positive work environment. * Evidence of multi-tasking, reprioritising and reacting to issues that arise during the day while keeping calm and professional in demanding situations. * Demonstrated strong writing and other presentation skills, including project scheduling and risk tracking. The salary band for this position is $139,554 - $188,808 including Kiwisaver employer contributions.
