About the opportunity We have an exciting, fixed term opportunity with plenty of variety and challenge for an experienced or up and coming Health and Safety Manager to be responsible for the continuous improvement of health and safety across our 3 year Whareroa Coolstores1-8 project. This three year fixed term role is based at our Whareroa manufacturing site and will provide you with growth and opportunity to progress your health and safety career and make tangible, rewarding impacts to the safety of work. You will directly report to the Project Manager and will have autonomy to make this role your own and bring in new ideas. You will work towards the uplift of the team capability, and guide and coach the project staff on best practice Health and Safety. This role has no direct reports. A key focus of your role will be to support the proactive management of risks, lead strategic and tactical improvements, and upskill the business in health and safety procedures. You will be a trusted advisor, providing hands-on leadership and coaching to the project leadership team, supporting continuous improvement, and bringing transformational change in the operations' overall Health and Safety approach. Your day-to-day will include building effective relationships, sharing best practices, coaching, and mentoring to ensure implementation of a consistent approach, and ensuring compliance requirements are met. What you'll bring and develop A relevant Health and Safety degree or diploma Experience in lead roles and managing conflict Technical health and safety management expertise An understanding of process safety or experience in major hazard facilities Ability to instil trust across a diverse workforce and establish meaningful relationships with stakeholders Have business acumen and strong organisational skills Ability to manage ambiguity Excellent communication and influential skills Our Story Whanaungatanga, our Co-operative spirit gives us all a common strength and purpose.
