Are you looking for a change in 2025?
If you like the idea of working on projects that make a fundamental difference to the lives of people in your community, then perhaps you should think about a role at Vector.
So much of what we take for granted in our everyday lives is enabled by the work that Vector is doing to ensure our infrastructure is fit for purpose for a rapidly changing future.
Across our network we are transforming the way that Auckland's critical infrastructure is delivered through high-tech data-led solutions and customer first thinking. It's a dynamic, energising place to work because what you do here matters to everyone.
About the role
In this role, you'll get to work with a variety of assets old and new – Vector is in the unique position of having a legacy network that dates back to the Second World War, alongside our work building a brand new energy future. You'll be exposed to the full spectrum of this, which is going to grow your experience and energise your career like no other.
As Project Engineer, you'll manage the delivery of electrical designs, leading a team of cross-functional design engineers and reviewing primary and secondary systems designs. You'll also help ensure that quality of construction meets design requirements and Vector's construction standards through a combination of on-site inspections and/or deputization of quality assurance to the designer.
This role offers approximately a 2:1 ratio of the desk-based to field visits, meaning you'll get a good balance of time behind the desk and out in the field.

An engineering degree, and a wealth of experience in project engineering/design experience in electrical power systems or industrial projects
Core experience in electricity distribution network and asset design
Strong problem-solving skills to develop technical solutions while considering total life cycle costs, maintainability and operability
Sound understanding of Safety in Design principles and application, and a working knowledge of engineering standards including AS/NZS, IEC and IEEE, and local codes & practices

We also offer:
