My client is a well-established company that provides engineering services and solutions to a range of small and large businesses and enterprises throughout Southland and Otago. They are specialists in general, mechanical, structural, and maintenance engineering, who have a reputation for reliability and delivery quality.As Project Engineer/Estimator, you will report to the Workshop Manager and be responsible for the management of projects to meet customers' requirements. You will scope jobs and provide quotes and estimates, liaising closely with customers throughout the project. You will ensure skills, labour, and materials are organised and will troubleshoot issues as they arise.With ongoing growth and plenty of exciting projects, they are now looking to add an experienced Project Engineer/Estimator to their team.About the role:Day-to-day management of engineering jobs and high projects to ensure a high quality and cost-effective service provided to clients.Project Management - estimation and quoting projects, managing projects, sorting materials, quality of projects, costs/change outs.Financial management and client relationship management.Provide direction, instruction, and guidance to the Engineering trades team in the absence of the Workshop Manager.The second part of this role is being in charge of the Health and Safety Management of the business, looking after the health and safety coordinator role within the workshop.Running of H&S meetings, and accident/incident investigations as required. (A H&S Coordinator course and Accident Investigator course will be provided if required.)About you:You are a trade-qualified Fitter Turner or a Fitter Welder (preferred) with a strong technical background.You have Project Management experience and skill sets.You have proven experience working in a similar role, ideally within a mechanical engineering environment - running larger work projects or teams of tradespeople.You're able to draw, read, and interpret engineering drawings - AutoCAD skills would be advantageous.The ability to communicate effectively is a key requirement and building relationships will be one of your strengths.
