The role involves facilitating both Liger's Exploration and Essential programs. Candidates should have experience in project-based learning and expertise in subject areas they can facilitate, as well as additional skills or interests. About Liger Leadership Academy: Liger Leadership Academy focuses on innovative and meaningful learning experiences that go beyond traditional academics. The curriculum includes a balance between Essential subjects (Math, Literacy, Science, Humanities) and Explorations, which involve project-based, experiential, and opportunity-based learning. Key responsibilities: Design engaging learning experiences: Go beyond traditional teaching by incorporating complex, real-world concepts and experiential learning. Inspire and innovate: Use technology and creative problem-solving to excite students about the world around them. Lead with passion: Engage students through dynamic teaching and inspiring projects. Empower learners: Encourage critical thinking and real-world problem-solving. Collaborate and create: Work with other educators to develop interdisciplinary approaches and contribute to a culture of excellence. Facilitation vs. teaching: Liger emphasizes facilitation, where the focus is on guiding students to discover and construct their own understanding, fostering independence, critical thinking, and creativity. Exploration program: Facilitate 4 sessions per week, integrating real-world experiences into learning. Provide personalized learning, curriculum development, and impact-driven feedback. Develop curriculum aligned with the NZ Curriculum and NCEA standards. Contact hours for Y9-11 (4 hours per week) and Y12 (3 hours per week + self-study). Lead Liger Exploration with 8 contact hours per week. Participate in morning and lunch duties, and offer after-school Extension activities. Qualifications and experience: Registered teacher in NZ (or ability to gain registration). Familiarity with the NCEA qualification framework.
