Programme Lead - Conservation Planning Improvement

Reporting to the Statutory Planning Manager, you'll partner with them to lead and drive strategic improvement priorities and direction in how DOC develops and reviews statutory planning documents, giving effect to Treaty of Waitangi principles.

This work will give you the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams, Treaty partners, external stakeholders, and the Minister of Conservation.
You will work with them to address systemic challenges in DOC's planning system and develop strategies to implement sustainable changes.

You will lead the improvement programme of work, supported by two advisors reporting to you.
The work will give you the opportunity to:

Engage with Treaty partners to understand their aspirations for the form and function of statutory planning documents Utilise your skills in analysis, problem definition, options development, and implementation Collaborate with multiple teams and stakeholders, including provision of advice and recommendations to senior leaders. As the Programme Lead, you will have a proven track record of managing complex programmes of work, excellent communication abilities, and multi-stakeholder collaboration.
You will be comfortable working under pressure and at pace, encouraging innovative change and bringing fresh ideas to long-standing issues.

Minimum Requirements: Proven problem-solving skills, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication abilities Knowledge of environmental planning disciplines, legislation, or policy development is useful. Experience leading programmes of work, with excellent organisational and coordination skills A sound working knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Experience working with Treaty partners is beneficial Strong interpersonal abilities Successful development and implementation of improvements and innovations Please note we are also open to external secondments for this role.

The salary range for this position is $108,617 to $137,645 with the starting salary based on the successful applicant's level of relevant skills and experience.
