Mo te turanga | About the role
Pakeke Centre is a community service that offers fellowship and friendship for older people. We provide day programmes, social outings, and pastoral care to support our members to live and participate in their community.
We're looking for a passionate, energetic and community minded person to join our team as a Programme Assistant to work three days a week Mon, Tues & Weds (19 hours p/w) based in Waipukurau. There are two aspects to the Programme Assistant role. The first is cooking/preparing nutritious meals and secondly interacting with our clients helping them with a variety of activities designed to engage, stimulate and create social connections.
You'll be responsible for:
Cooking nutritious meals and kitchen duties
Planning, coordinating, and facilitating daily activities for our clients
Reporting and recording daily observations of client activity
Assisting with packing up and storage of equipment
Driving the centre van for outings, client pick up and drop off when required

As the Programme Assistant you will enjoy preparing nutritious meals and supporting the elderly to participate in a range of activities. You'll thrive in a busy but fun environment where you need to plan ahead and multitask to get the job done. Team fit is important to us so you must enjoy contributing positively, helping where needed and have an easy going nature.
As the Programme Assistant you will have:
Experience and a passion for food and cooking
An understanding of the needs of older people
Excellent interpersonal skills
Strong communication and listening skills
A warm and caring personality
A full clean driver's licence, a clean criminal record and NZ working rights
