Who are we/Ko wai matou The Department of Radiation Therapy, University of Otago Wellington (UOW), teaches Radiation Therapy at an undergraduate and postgraduate level. The Bachelor of Radiation Therapy qualification is the key entry qualification for the radiation therapy profession in New Zealand.
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Professional Practice Fellow/Senior Professional Practice Fellow (Pukenga/Kairuruku Ritenga Utua/Tauira Matamua Ritenga Ngaio) with current experience in clinical radiation therapy. The position is on-campus in Wellington.
We are open to making this appointment at any level from Professional Practice Fellow/Senior Professional Practice Fellow (teaching only) to Lecturer (teaching, research and programme development) level. Appointment to these positions will be dependent on academic achievement, skills, and experience.
The role includes teaching into the Bachelor of Radiation Therapy, and includes development, preparation, and delivery of teaching material. Depending on the role appointed, there may be a requirement to be involved in research, but research collaboration with other members of the department would be supported in all the advertised roles.
The University's Maori Strategic Framework (MSF) provides the anchor for Maori development within UOW, encompassing partnerships with iwi and Maori communities, Maori staff and student development, Maori research and teaching programmes, te reo and tikanga. The Department of Radiation Therapy is working towards the department and curriculum aligning with the Maori Strategic Framework. We have a particular interest in applicants who have knowledge of Hauora Maori, its determinants and approaches to improving Hauora Maori and/or have an understanding of cultural competence and cultural safety and expectations of health practitioners.
Key tasks of the role include:
• Developing and preparing teaching material and teaching small group tutorials and lectures to support delivery of the radiation therapy curriculum.
• Contributing to the preparation and marking of assessment for the Bachelor of Radiation Therapy.
• Involvement in research (Lecturer position only).
We are looking for candidates with the following attributes:
• A relevant radiation therapy qualification and clinical experience in radiation therapy.
• Registered with the MRTB (New Zealand) and hold a current radiation therapy annual practising certificate.
• Experience in teaching/supervising radiation therapy students in clinical placement.
• A commitment to developing an active research profile (Lecturer position only).
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
Understanding and commitment to creating a te Tiriti o Waitangi based program aligned with the University's Maori Strategic Framework which supports the profession of Radiation Therapy in Aotearoa.
Candidates with Maori and Pacific backgrounds are warmly encouraged.
This is a permanent, part-time position (0.4 FTE – 0.6 FTE) based in Wellington. The hours of work are negotiable with the successful candidate, providing flexibility.
The appointment levels for this position are as follows:
• Professional Practice Fellow – $85,523 to $96,058
• Senior Professional Practice Fellow – $98,640 to $107,300
• Lecturer - $90,902 to $107,300
